Pastel Alice

pictures either previously mentioned or from Martha's pretty pastel theme

Stationery Themes: Dots and Lines

Wish i could see this pic closer up coz it sounds really nice - click pic for article

Fabric program cover

this pic has made me reconsider the fabric program. This is similar to how i was going to do it. I was thinking a plain fabric, cotton or felt with a ribbon in the wedding colours. But the chairs in this pic are really neutral so it works where as ours i think are that typical red style and I'm not sure that we'll be able to afford chair covers. In either case their would be nothing to hang them on with our style of chair. It doesn't really make sense to have this style of pocket and just place them on the chair.
Maybe this would be a better idea

maybe white material and a coloured bow?

Put the confetti in the Program - genius!

brill idea from who else but Martha

"Inside the program's front cover, small glassine envelopes hold fresh hydrangea petals to shower on the couple."
there isnt a tutorial but it seems pretty easy to do. Musnt forget that Plas Newydd will only allow real petal confetti.

The Dress

If i'm going to wear a white dress, which i've got to admit i was dead against to begin with then it would have to be a prom syle affair with a bit of katy perry inspired style maybe? I've fallen in love with this dress from Candy Anthony but since its couture i think i can just dream on!

simple budget jewellery

Kels reading Wedding Ideas magazine and has spotted a lovely simple bracelet from Aliya Rose. Could be a nice pressie for Wilsie.

cupcake tower

From Martha

Homespun white cupcakes are crowned with fondant hearts cut with a cookie cutter and imprinted with the bride's and groom's first initials using a new rubber stamp. Those bearing a B are paired with napkins marked with an H, and vice versa. The cake stand is made of Styrofoam and boards, with three inch-wide doily trim.

Ive found a tutorial on Cakejournal for making a similar tiered cake stand - should prove useful! In fact its a great site for all things cakey.!

UPDATE: just realised i've blogged this cakestand before oops - i must really want to make it!

Venue at last

I think we have definately decided on Anglesey Sea Zoo for the reception. I'm still unsure as to the logistics of it all but it would be cool and Dylan the owner is really up for it, we will be his first wedding so he his keen to see if it works then he can expand his business.

Can you do me a favour?

At the moment i'm thinking about favours. Although I agree with munch, this isnt the sort of wedding where one would expect favours I think it would be nice just to leave them near the cake or something. We had an idea that the photographer gave us she had seen a couple give a CD of the music played at the ceremony and night do. We both love this idea but if it becomes too expensive a back up is good. An idea I liked was fruit teas as it is an Alice/Tea party theme. Also Ive seen these cookies on Martha which we could write 'eat me' on!

Terrified

I'm absolutely bricking it about the vows: writing them, saying them out loud in front of everyone, just terrifying. I love reading the personal vows that other couples have written but i feel completely inadequate when it comes to writing my own vows. How could it ever be as good as these by 2000 dollar wedding.

"I read a lot of other people's vows. We knew we wanted them to be sincere and fun. We decided to write our own vows following the same stem: "I love you because..." Then we wrote joint vows folloing this stem: "Because I love you, I promise to..." Here's what we ended up saying:

Sara:
Matt, I love you because you make me laugh out loud on a daily basis, like when you come up with alternate names for our dog, Hoss, such as Hoss-tage, Hoss of Pain, or Hoss-car Myer Weiner.
I love you because you challenge me to be a better person, like when you made me promise to tell the Penske truck people that we scraped the moving van.
I love you because we create adventures together, like Halloween scavenger hunts or road trips out West.
I love you because you care so much for other people that you inspire all of us to be more caring. You do things like put toothpaste on my toothbrush and leave it out for me, or come home on the worst day of winter with slippers and a Chia pet herb garden.
I love you because I smile every time I wake up to you and when I come home to you. We play together, brainstorm together, create together, read together. Your hand always feels comfortable in mine.
Matt, because I love you, I promise to treat you the way you want to be treated and with the respect you deserve. I promise to build trust with my words and actions. I will be your cheerleader, your nurse, your editor, your therapist, your teacher, your student, and your partner in adventure. I will deeply appreciate all of your positive qualities and not let the passage of time dull that appreciation. When life challenges us, I promise to focus on the resiliency of our love. And if I stumble and fail to live up to my promises, I will look you in the eyes, hold your hands, and apologize with sincerity. I will be my best for you.
[Sara will hand the microphone and the binder to Matt to speak.]
Matt:
Sara, I love you because you are always working to make yourself and the world better; sending birthday cards to friends and reading self-help books.
I love you because you never settle for one opinion; you ask friends family, and consult articles and books.
I love you because you stand-up for what you believe in; like when you spoke-up to your assistant principal about what was working, what was not and the ways that you could work to change it.
I love you because you create documents, documents, documents to better your life and the lives of others; like when we copied over 90,000 documents from your old computer.
I love you because you make up songs about our dog, your butt and my smells, and they sound good.
Sara, because I love you, I promise to treat you the way you want to be treated and with the respect you deserve. "

wow i love those vows.

Bourbon Myth

I saw on the wedding channel a programme about a couple getting married in America and the guy said traditionally if you bury a bottle of bourbon in your back garden you will have good weather on your wedding day, so that JD miniature is going down!

Save the date ( a very important date!)

We now have our key rings and magnets ready to send out our save the dates, We just have to design them! I've put together a letter about the accommodation to accompany the letter for the important guests and tonight I'm going to draft a letter for the others.
We had a nightmare the other day when munch rang Ann-Marie to book the accommodation she mentioned it was half term she was already partly booked and Anglesey would be over-run by families. We were gutted at the thought of not staying at Cerrig Y Barrcud so the only solution was to change the date! Simple you might say, but munch then had to contact Plas and the photographer to see if they could change!
Luckily it was all fine, So the date is now changed to the weekend of mums birthday...I think it was all to do with her so she better make it it nice weather!

Curiouser and Curiouser

We have finally found a theme, Munch got inspired by a magazine (one of the 5 we have recently bought. Its under wraps at the moment but look out for the clues! This has totally made things come together now we have the colour scheme we have our outfits designed and decided upon, the sort of food we are going to have our favours, its all coming together. I love it so excited cant stop thinking about it all the time its just too much.

Mini Top Hats

I love the idea of a mini top hat kind of a mix between bridal and burlesque. there a few stunning ones on etsy and a bit closer to home here. I've even found a tutorial for making your own - wonder if i could do it?

Dresses

Monsoon have some really funky brides dresses in their new collection...unfortunatley the other dresses we looked at inc the silver munch wanted (well it was pick of the bunch) have now been discontinued...The search resumes!

Random Thoughts

We have been thinking of gifts for our immediates, the main choices are a heart necklace for Wilsey, a charm bracelet for Kace and cufflinks for the boys. You can get novelty cufflinks from wedding shops online such as celebrationplus but I love some of these I found at Ernest Jones.

Girls in white dresses

kel- this wedding directory might be a good site for you to look at x

Slideshow

Found a lovely slideshow of anglesey - take a peak here

reception idea

Since neither of us is convinced with the sea zoo idea i've been looking at other options. I've discounted hiring a village hall as we would have to provide all drinks and that would be way too costly. My fav idea of the day is Tafarn Y Gors, a pub/restaurant in Gaerwen that frequently uses the restaurant as a function room and is next to a caravan site. They dont have email so i've rung and asked them to send a price list for a buffet for 80 people. The caravan site would be a great place for guests that cant be fitted in at cerrig y barcud and i've spoken to a coach company about ferrying us and the 30 odd staying at cerrig to and from gaerwen and it would cost about £150. If only we knew Dave Coaches!

Guest Book

In line with the hand crafted element of the wedding, I'd really like to make my own guest book. I've been thinking up loads of ideas to decorate blank chipboard books or another idea could be to have a ring binder style album and inside have plastic sheets that hold cards - like a trading card holder and each of the guests can write on trading cards with have been pre-decorated by yours truly.

Back on track

We are totally getting back on track with diet and smoking, and are getting really excited about the wedding again munch is making loads of fabric and paper flowers courtesy of Martha and I'm looking at budgets outfits and reviewing the guest list , will write more when i have time...
The wedding is getting more and more traditional by the day which is what we didn't want but somehow its difficult to escape.
I've just thought though about an American gangster theme like Bugsey Malone then i can where a fedora!!!
