i've finally made some good wedding flowers - its taken ages to get them looking anywhere near good enough! I've done some buttonholes too - what d'ya think?

I've been buying vintage tea cups and saucers as and when i see them in charity shops, car boots and antique shops and now i'm ready to make 1 element of the table centres - tea cup candles. I thought the idea was mine and inspired by the whole alice/tea party theme and vintage floral patterns in the fabrics i want and also by an episode of Kirstie's homemade home but it seems i must have already seen it somewhere coz there's a few mentions of them out there on the world wide web. this one pictured is one you can buy ready made (and therefore no fun at all lol!) for a staggering £22!!! click pic for link.

i have 8 teacups and saucers all similar to this and mismatched and none cost me more than £2 and some cost 50p! the ingredients to make the candle work out about £1 a cup. Hardly worth the retail value of £22! Cant wait to get started - i've sourced an online company for the candle making supplies but i want to ring around a few local places tomorrow to see if they have anything. I'd rather support local businesses if i can plus then i can avoid the delivery charge lol!

Curiouser and Curiouser

We have finally found a theme, Munch got inspired by a magazine (one of the 5 we have recently bought. Its under wraps at the moment but look out for the clues! This has totally made things come together now we have the colour scheme we have our outfits designed and decided upon, the sort of food we are going to have our favours, its all coming together. I love it so excited cant stop thinking about it all the time its just too much.

Ideas

Ev mentioned on her visit that she went to a wedding where the couple gave as a favour a CD of songs that meant something to them we are definaely going to do that. I also found a gorge ring cushion on mylifeexamined.blogspot she also said about the men wearing coloured socks to match the bridesmaids which I think will be really cute.

Cant think of a title

I thought we had definately settled on olive and aubergine but no munch is now swaying back to yellow and grey. I'm not sure which I prefer I do really like yellow for summer but I would like a sunshine more lemon yellow and I think she means like a marigold colour, oh will we ever decide I'm going to think of some really random colours and throw them on the table.

A Purple Wedding

Flower-Topped Fantasy
Use a pretty monogrammed cake as the pedestal for a cluster of anemones, tulips, lilacs, sweet peas, stephanotis, and allium tied with luxurious taffeta ribbon. Before the first slice is cut, the bride can retrieve the bouquet for the ceremonial toss. By Wendy Kromer.

Chocolate Blooms

yellow and grey moodboard

Hi for the last few days I started to like the idea of yellow and grey. I thought it was quite summery and sophisticated and also I'd gone off the aubergine and olive idea because it is so difficult to match the colours and everyone thinks they are different shades of purple and red so we would struggle to keep coordination. However we have since discovered that green and purple are the suffragette colours so it seems quite apt that we would use those colours.

More Moods

I cant stop thinking about the colours and themes of the wedding. Its just that there are so many different things to choose i cant stay focused on one, i keep being enthused by another! Been looking at some lovely blogs today. First as usual started at snippet & ink reading about Patty and Christina's wedding. So then had a look at their blog because there are a couple of similar themes to ours namely - gay, homemade stuff and a picnic/garden style reception! From there i found Etsy Wedding and that's when i got overwhelmed by the idea that i need to do a whole new mood board! Well not completely new - still the purple and green colours but with a more vintage, homespun feel. Less glam and glitzy more afternoon tea in 1930.

I love the idea of fabric flowers.

Maybe use lots of different but similarly coloured fabrics to make vintage feel flowers as the corsages and button holes. Use the same fabrics on the invitation flower detail and keep the button centre. use squares of the mismatched fabrics as napkins and wrap around the cutlery and tie with the purple ribbon - see where i got this idea!

UPDATE instead of using the fabric as napkins what about making the fabric flowers napkin rings - sew them onto ribbon and tie around plain napkins then they can be a keepsake for guests too.

Location, location, location

OH MY look at all that gorgeous food...
Well today we have been working on the wedding all day, we have looked at dresses, shoes, cakes, BBQ food, accommodation, reception, photographers, you name it ideas have been batted around, completely changed and totally re thought.
We have decided that Kacey should wear a little white dress as you can see below.
We have worked out with lovely Barbara that we can pay Plas Newyyd monthly which should really help us out.
Also I know what we said about not compromising on having Damion as a photographer but I really think we need to. We simply cannot justify 2 grand when there is a local photographer that I think is really good for half for the price, I'm leaving it with munch to decide.
We are looking at hiring a country home for the reception where alot of people can sleep and we can have the BBQ in the grounds, its very close to Plas Newydd so that's a bonus. Also there is a campsite with cottages to rent that I love but its an hour away. I think we need to go and view these locations as soon as possible. In case they get booked up.
So yes alot has gone on today, I also think I want to do a black and white mood board as I've seen some shoes I really want!

Reception - somewhere on Anglesey suitable for a large family barbecue with holiday cottages and other mixed accommodation like static caravans etc. To be catered by the family. Atmosphere like Phil's World Cup Parties.

Munch - Aubergine dress and green chrysanthemum wrist corsage
Kel - Grey halterneck waistcoat suit, aubergine pinstripe if possible. Green and aubergine buttonhole.
Matthew and Lewis - Grey suit with aubergine cravat or tie and waistcoat. Green chrysanthemum buttonhole
Wilson - Green dress and purple chrysanthemum hair corsage.
Kacey - white flower girl dress with aubergine sash in bow at back with front green flower detail

Food & Drink
Cocktails - Mojito and Pink Champagne
Food - BBQ, possibly hog or lamb roast, lots of salads incl artichoke and feta cous-cous and Mandy's homemade coleslaw.
Desert - not decided maybe just wedding cake or other homemade cakes.
Wedding Cake - 3 tier. Bottom tier - white iced with green dots and base aubergine ribbon. Middle tier -Apple white iced and base aubergine ribbon. Top Tier white iced with dotty icing flower and base aubergine ribbon.

Aubergine & Olive Mood Board

I know i said I'd do spots and flowers next but i couldn't do it! What i really wanted to do was incorporate this aubergine & olive with a spotty cake in the same colours and some more rustic outdoorsy locations but i couldn't find anything suitable. For now i have drawn the cake that we are thinking of and that'll have to do!
